Blogs and Rancid Chicken

What is all of the for - I mean really, why blog?
Is it because I'm important, have important things to say, have found things that others might find important, or because I have extra time to create a sense of importancy (yes, importancy) about myself/my words/my observations?
No.
... Well, actually. Yes, kinda.
It is not that I am important as a stand-alone blogger, that honor goes to much more dedicated and involved individuals, it is that by offering my voice and opinion I become a part of the society that is willing to voice their opinion and accept the accountability that comes with public declarations. Because that is what every word in every blog represents, a public declaration by that blog's owner of those exact words. This concept fascinates me!
However, just because I profess that I can be held accountable by my words does not make this blog important (and definitely not interesting), especially considering that there are > 70 million blogs. But it does give me the ability to hold others accountable for their actions/words.
I do not mean to say that owning a blog gives a person the right to be a critic, but it does give a person the right to publish their observations - openly discuss these topics with others - and potentially find truth where lies may have once existed about any person, belief, company, idea, or random occurrence.
I wish I had expertise in social media strategies and knew the proper way to leverage any of the important stuff that can be created through a collaborative blog, but I don't. So for now I resign myself to the role of participant in the greatest shift in imperfect knowledge ever to occur.

(What was I trying to say about the reasons for blogging and the importance of the message)... Well, the ability to inform others is the reason I find value in this new media and my favorite example of how simple, yet valuable a blog can be is the case of the: $36.09 Rancid Chicken Mmm!
